Douglas M. Dickens is W. Randall Lolley Professor of Pastoral Studies.
Dr. Dickens joined the faculty of the School of Divinity in the fall of
2000, having served for fifteen years on the faculty of the Southwestern
Baptist Theological Seminary. Prior to that, for seven years he was pastor
of the First Baptist Church of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Dr. Dickens is a certified
supervisor of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE), a Fellow in the American
Association of Pastoral Counselors (AAPC), and a Board Certified Chaplain
in the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC). Dr. Dickens has also
served as a pastoral counselor for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF),
working with missionary families in Southeast Asia, a ministry in which
he has participated since the program's inception. A "global Christian,"
Dr. Dickens has recently taught part-time at Moscow Seminary of Evangelicals/Baptists
developing an ecumenical model for clinical pastoral education in seminary
curricula (including dialogue with the Russian Orthodox Church), as well
as participating in a consultation with Russian medical groups in developing
chaplaincy training programs in Moscow, Russia.
