 Robert
W. Canoy is Associate Dean and Associate
Professor of Theology. Canoy comes to the School of Divinity from First
Baptist Church in Shelby, North Carolina, where he served as senior pastor
since 1997. A native of Greenville, Mississippi, Canoy holds the bachelor's
degree from Mississippi College and the Master of Divinity and the Doctor
of Philosophy from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville,
KY. An accomplished academician, he has served at both The Southern Baptist
Theological Seminary and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Canoy
has served as pastor for serveral significant Southern Baptist churches
in addition to First Baptist of Shelby, including Blue River Island Baptist
Church of Battletown, KY; First Baptist Church of Lathrop, Missouri; Ashworth
Road Baptist Church of West DesMoines, Iowa; and First Baptist Church of
Rockville, Maryland. Canoy has published numerous articles, including significant
resources for Sunday School teachers, students and scholars of New Testament
studies.
